The gaming world is abuzz with the long-awaited announcement of a remaster for a beloved classic! Metal Gear Solid 4, the epic conclusion to Hideo Kojima's iconic stealth series, is finally getting a second chance at glory, nearly 20 years after its initial release.
But why has it taken so long? Sony's recent State of Play event revealed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is on its way, bringing the series' final chapter to modern consoles. This collection includes remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, both of which have been eagerly awaited by fans.
The original Metal Gear Solid 4 was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, and its absence from newer consoles has been a sore spot for many gamers. Konami's decision to remaster this title now is a surprise to some, but a welcome one. And here's the twist: it's the first time Konami has attempted to bring this specific game to new platforms, despite remastering other titles in the series.
The collection will launch on August 27th, and it's currently available for pre-order on the PSN Store for $50. But the real question on everyone's mind is: will it come to other platforms? This Game Boy Color title, a top-down adventure released in 2000, serves as a non-canon follow-up to the original Metal Gear Solid. Its inclusion is a delightful bonus for fans of the series' history.
Metal Gear Solid 4 concludes the saga of Solid Snake, as he takes on the Patriots, the enigmatic force behind the events of the previous games. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker continues the story after Metal Gear Solid 3 and Portable Ops, with Big Boss establishing his military might in Colombia and facing off against a rising nuclear threat.
